Alan Smeaton is Emeritus Professor of Computing at Dublin City University. He is a member of the Royal Irish Academy and an Academy Gold Medal winner for Engineering and Computer Sciences. Alan is a regular media commentator on the development and use of technologies which underpin AI. In January of this year he was appointed to the Irish Government’s Advisory Council on Artificial Intelligence.
